My diabetic cartoons and illustrations started as a way to take the frustration of the disease and make something productive and powerful from it. The art expresses shared ideas and experiences that are otherwise difficult to communicate, even from one diabetic to another.

It always fascinates me that the name diabetes means “sweet urine”. Apparently that’s how the Greeks used to diagnose the disease. Ew.
