Although I openly confess I’m quite frightened of insects, the details of the natural world invite interpretation and, to a certain degree, risk. Each piece I create is strangely personal to me, not only because I’ve brought it to life—whether it be leaf, egg, or insect—but because it’s developed its own quiet personality. My insects often sit on the cusp of believable and illusory, to make the observer pause slightly and take a closer look.
